"In one word, OUTSTANDING! That's how I describe The Club at Old Hawthorne. This new golf facility has everything that you look for in a golf course and country club. You can tell by just walking out on the course that nothing has been done unless it was done for the best. It gives players of all skill levels a chance to enjoy the beautiful layout."
-Scott Hovis, Executive Director, Missouri Golf Association

A golf course of incomparable quality and uncompromised standards.
Our members and residents expect the best. No, they demand the best. We deliver it with our immaculate fairways, bunkers, tees and greens.

Travis McCubbin, PGA General Manager for The Club at Old Hawthorne, has been charged with seeing that the highest standards are maintained, so that each and every round you play is like your final round on “the tour.”

Five sets of tees assures every skill-level of golfer is accommodated.
Given the appropriate tees, the golf course can play easy, with the large fairways and large greens. However, there's plenty of trouble to grab you if you get a little over-confident. There are multiple holes where you can cut off yardage or even drive the green, but if you don't pull it off you could be looking at double bogey or worse.

“The keys to scoring well here are accurate approach shots and efficient putting,”

-Travis McCubbin, PGA General Manager

Our large, bentgrass tees, wide fairways and undulating greens give us a huge competitive edge over all other Mid-Missouri golf courses when it comes to giving you enjoyable rounds time and time again.

Grass

Tees: Alpha Bent Grass
Fairways: Zoysia Grass
Greens: T1 Bent Grass

The golf course plays over rolling terrain with multiple water hazards lurking. The fairways are very wide, with six of them having strategically-placed center fairway bunkers. These bunkers split up the wide fairways, creating many different options of how to attack the green. The greens are undulating with many different shelves and bowls dividing them into quadrants.

Out of the starting gate...

Right out of the club house, you'll be taken by our square, bentgrass tees that frame our holes and give them character. On hole number one, the fairway disappears over a slight incline to the green waiting at the bottom of the hill next to Grindstone Creek.

A drive down the left hand side will cut off more yardage, however a lateral hazard lurks if you go too far left. There's plenty of room to the right side of the fairway. You'll have a downhill lie to a green that sits in a bottom. Do not fire at the back right pin and plan on having a birdie putt.
